took into consideration the space and the viewer's participation. The vagina chair, pillows, rug, and slippers invite the viewer to escape from the rest of the world, relax, and watch a series of home videos. I considered this space to be a living room for the rest of gallery.
The materials were strategically chosen, including the fur trim which left white remains on the viewer once they left the scene. This made them an active participant in the installation, and similar to myself, they were marked by the experience.
By sitting in the vagina chair, and being left with the remains, they also become identifier with the act of violation and the experience is meant to inspire empathy towards molestation and rape.
